Yearly Review

2017 Yearly Review

It has been an a roller coaster of a year for me in 2017, with my personal life being completely up ended in the last quarter. Although I built this blog up and read so many incredible books, it was really a terrible year for me and I’m sorry that I disappeared the last few months. I’ve been recovering and looking forward to 2018, though, and am working on getting myself out of my slump. Thank you so much to those of you that have stuck around and checked on me, it honestly really means a lot.

As for reading, 2017 was a year of big changes for me. Not only did I really ramp up the amount of books that I was reading, but I also made it a personal goal to go big on submitting reviews to publishers via NetGalley and First to Read. While I eventually ended up falling behind and wrecking my percentage on NetGalley, I definitely plan on doing some catching up again this year to get my account back up to that sweet 80% so look forward to more ARC reviews in the future!

As for the types of books I’ve been reading, I have a new found love for mystery and psychological thrillers, I read quite a few of them last year and it’s definitely a genre that I wish I had started reading sooner! I also gave in and have checked out some of the super hyped YA books that I find talked about regularly on book blogs, which seem to be extremely hit or miss with me. I’ve come to enjoy YA though and am glad that I have stepped outside of the box with my reading habits.

Completed Challenges

I took on quite a few reading challenges this year and though I did not complete a couple of them, here are the ones that I did complete!

20 Books of Summer 2017
• NetGalley & Edelweiss Reading Challenge 2017 (10 out of 10 books)
• The Backlist Reader Challenge (15 out of 15 books)

Library Challenges
So there were two challenges held at my local library and I completed both over the course of the summer. One was the 2017 Adult Summer Reading Challenge which won me a nice quality tote bag that I have already decorated with pins and has become my favorite library bag! The second was the 2017 Reading Marathon which challenged readers to complete 26 books before the end of the year.

Goodreads Challenge
I set my challenge higher than usual and surprised myself that I far surpassed it by quite a bit. I’m pretty pleased with how many books I read last year and hope to keep up a similar reading schedule this year!
