YARC: Year of the Asian Reading Challenge 2019

I am so very excited to join a reading challenge this year after experiencing the worst reading slump in 2018. I’ve been really hyped for new release books this year with so many Asian novels lined up throughout 2019. With all of the Asian novels upcoming it seemed only fitting to join the first annual YARC: Year of the Asian Reading Challenge, a brand new challenge being hosted by Shealea, Lily, CW, and Vicky.

There are multiple levels and adorable badges to go along with them. I’m keeping my goals light this year and only aiming for the first level, the Philippine Tarsier – so adorable! It made my heart happy to see Philippines represented and on the first level!! If I manage to level beyond that wonderful! But I am not going to pressure myself to read too much, especially with how light my reading was last year.

1-10 Books Read

want to Read

I’m not going to set a definitive list as I am a bit of a mood reader, and what I pick up ends up being a little random. I decided to list a few from my shelves that I might possiblyl get to, but it depends on what new books I end up getting.

• Severance by Ling Ma
• The Ghost Bride by Yangsze Choo
• The Vegetarian by Han Kang
• The Year of Blue Water by Yanyi

  1. If you don’t have a copy of The Vegetarian feel free to message me and I can mail you my copy. I think the author released another novel that got translated, Human Acts.

    1. Aw, thank you! I wouldn’t mind it, though I picked up an ebook copy of the book a few months ago while it was on sale. 🙂 I just picked up a few more books by Asian authors this week so hopefully I can get to this challenge, it’s really cute!
